Questions You May Have . . .
What is the main mission of Kirk Jones Music?
In a word, “edutainment.” I seek to entertain and educate my students, my clients, and my audiences.
How can I get started with lessons?
Download the studio policy form and the new student forms to see how I do things. Then contact me by phone or email and we can arrange a time to get started.
What do I need to bring to my first lesson?
You will want to bring your instrument and any music that you feel comfortable playing in front of someone. However, the most important thing that you can bring to your first lesson is a willingness to be open and to learn.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons are $25 for 30 minutes / $50 for an hour. Most younger students only need a 30 minutes lesson.
Where are the lessons taught?
In my home in Edmonds, Washington (just north of Seattle)
What if I have never played a low brass instrument before?
Not a problem – all of us are beginners at some point. I start where the student is and go from there.
What if I am switching from another instrument?
Again, this is not a problem. If you have played another instrument or had vocal instruction, making the switch may be easier since you bring prior knowledge to the lessons.
How do I use the “fillable” PDFs?
For any PDF on the Kirk Jones Music site that has areas to be filled in and returned, use these instructions:
- Click on the link for the form
- Download the form to your computer or electronic device
- Once you are seeing the form, click immediately above the line and you will see a box where you can begin entering the required information
- Save the completed form, changing the file name to something that indicates who or what the form is for (e.g. “JoeStudentTboneLessons” or “M&MWeddingInfo”)
- Attach the form to an email to jonesbonz@gmail.com
If you choose to not use the fillable PDF, you can simply print it off and fill it in by hand, or I can provide a hard copy.
